Something exciting coming soon to a twitter profile near you…..

You may have heard on the grapevine that there will be changes to Twitter and it has finally be confirmed from Twitter HQ that they will evolve how we can communicate on Twitter.

Over the years Twitter has grown from its 140-character message and simple interface to its now polished and interactive platform where users are able to add photos, videos, create polls etc.

You can already do quite a lot in a tweet however the hot shots at Twitter would like us to voice our opinions without being restricted to the 140 characters therefore they will be making a few tweaks to how much we can write.

So what does the Twitter upgrade mean for us fellow tweeters? Currently all @names, media attachments use up the precious 140 characters however this is set to change.

So what is changing?

  • Replies – when you reply to a Tweet the @names will no longer count towards your 140 character count this means your conversations will probably flow a lot better and you won’t have to cut out key words that help your tweets make sense – Finally I can start spelling out words in full!
  • Media attachments – if you had any attachments to your tweet such as photos, videos or polls etc they won’t be counted which will allow you to more character for words!
  • Retweet– the developers will be adding a retweet button to our own tweets so when you tweet your blog at 3am in the morning you can RT it the next morning when more people will see it!

A date has yet to be confirmed of when this will be rolled out but I am definitely looking forward to it!
